Many golfers assume a lower ball flight leads to massive rollout. In reality, chasing low launch usually leaves serious yardage on the table. Maximising driver distance requires achieving the right apex height - and that starts with matching loft to how you deliver the club.

Angle of Attack: Hitting Up vs Hitting Down The ideal driver delivery catches the ball on an upswing - a positive angle of attack. However, many golfers naturally deliver a negative angle of attack, striking downward.

  • Positive Angle of Attack: Launches the ball higher with lower spin, allowing for a lower-lofted head.

  • Negative Angle of Attack: Demands more static head loft to prevent the ball from falling out of the air prematurely.
