Lilia Vu Wins The Chevron Championship
Footjoy & Titleist Pro V1X Player Lilia Vu clinched her first major victory at The Chevron Championship with a birdie on the first playoff hole, while Angel Yin's approach shot found the water.
Yin's second shot fell short and landed in the pond protecting the par-5 18th hole. In contrast, Vu's approach just made it over the green. Despite a lackluster putter shot, Vu managed to sink the winning shot from around 10 feet.
The 25-year-old Californian secured her second LPGA Tour win and celebrated in style by taking a dip in the pond, a tradition that dates back to the tournament's previous venue at Mission Hills in the California desert.
Vu finished the tournament with a score of 10-under 278, thanks to a 4-under 68 in the final round, which saw her birdie the last two holes. While Vu waited for her victory, other contenders, including Yin, faltered.
Overall, it was a stunning display of skill from Vu, who managed to hold her nerve and secure her first major win in style.
